Mercer County Jail Roster Path
Mercer County does not publish one Mercer-branded inmate list in the official sources reviewed. The official Mercer County Jailer page states that Mercer County houses inmates in Boyle County and Woodford County, while the Mercer jailer handles transport, booking and bond paperwork, court movement, and office reports from the Harrodsburg courthouse complex. That fact changes the search pattern. A person arrested in Harrodsburg, Burgin, or elsewhere in Mercer County may be booked into a housing jail outside the county, so the public record trail can split between Mercer law enforcement, the Mercer County Jailer, Boyle County Detention Center, Woodford County Detention Center, and Mercer District or Circuit Court.
The practical search starts with Boyle County Detention Center's detention website and the Woodford County JailTracker/Public Safety Cloud roster. Boyle County's official detention page says inmate information includes bond information and amounts, current charges, and photographs. Woodford County's official page links to its inmate list and identifies the jail as the place used for prisoners arrested, sentenced, or held by District and Circuit Courts. If neither roster shows the person, the next checks are the jail information phone lines, a written records request, the Kentucky Department of Corrections KOOL locator, CourtNet or the KCOJ docket search, BOP, ICE ODLS, and VINELink.
The Mercer County Jailer page is the local source that explains why the search crosses county lines.
That county page is important because it prevents the common error of searching for a current Mercer County Jail as if it were the housing facility.
Use Mercer County Inmate Rosters
A Mercer County inmate lookup should not stop after one roster. A new arrest may be headed to Boyle, already lodged at Woodford, still moving through intake, transferred after sentencing, or held under a federal or immigration process. Use a full name first. If the name is common, compare age, booking date, charge text, bond information, and custody location before assuming the result is the right person. A missing name can mean the booking has not posted yet, the person was released, the person is in court transport, or the case has moved out of county jail custody.
- Open the Boyle County Detention Center site and use the current inmate list or public information area for Mercer inmates housed there.
- Open the Woodford County Detention Center JailTracker/Public Safety Cloud roster and check the same name there.
- If a profile appears, read the custody location, current charges, bond status, and any booking photograph or profile detail that the jail publishes.
- If no profile appears, call Boyle at 859-238-1100 Ext. 300 or Woodford at 859-873-3196 before assuming the person is not in custody.
- For sentenced Kentucky offenders, search Kentucky Offender Online Lookup instead of the county jail roster.
- For release alerts or victim notification, use VINELink where Kentucky custody data is available.
Boyle's bond information is also time sensitive. Official Boyle search text says Pretrial Services interviews each inmate within 24 hours of booking before bond is set, so a newly booked Mercer County inmate may show limited or changing bond detail at first.
Mercer County Roster Fields
The research did not capture exact rendered field labels from the interactive Boyle and Woodford JailTracker pages. The public record should therefore be described with the official facts that were confirmed, not with made-up field names. Boyle confirms that bond information, current charges, and photographs are part of its inmate information. Woodford confirms an official inmate-list endpoint, but the static fetch showed a JavaScript roster rather than profile labels.
| System | Field or Control | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boyle County Detention Center | Current Inmate List | No | Official detention site exposes a current inmate list or public information area. |
| Boyle County Detention Center | Name or profile browsing | Not stated | Use the public list and confirm details by phone if the profile is unclear. |
| Woodford County Detention Center | JailTracker roster app | No | Official county page links to Public Safety Cloud/JailTracker. |
| KDOC KOOL | Last, first, middle name | Optional in combination | Use for sentenced state offenders, DOC supervision, and transferred inmates. |
| KDOC KOOL | Photo-only and alias options | No | Useful when a county roster no longer lists a sentenced person. |
Note: Do not rely on a single roster result when Mercer County custody may be divided between Boyle, Woodford, court transport, and state DOC transfer.
Mercer County Inmate Profile Details
A Mercer County inmate record is a jail record first, not a final court judgment. Boyle County's official detention page provides the clearest published inventory: inmate information includes current charges, bond information and amounts, and photographs. The research did not confirm a public field for every possible booking data point, so profile descriptions should stay close to those confirmed items. Booking charges are arrest or intake charges, and the Mercer County court record can later show amended, reduced, dismissed, indicted, or convicted charges.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The person listed on the jail roster or profile. |
| Photograph or booking photo | Boyle's official page says photographs are available through its inmate information. |
| Current charges | Charges entered at booking or held by the jail, not always the final filed court charges. |
| Bond information and amounts | Release terms shown by the jail when available, subject to court holds or other agency detainers. |
| Custody location | Whether the Mercer County inmate is held at Boyle, Woodford, DOC, or another system. |
| Release or transfer status | May require the roster, jail phone line, KOOL, and court records because static text did not confirm retention rules. |
County, State, Federal Custody
Mercer County jail records cover the local custody stage. That usually means a pretrial detainee, a person serving a local sentence, a person waiting on bond, or a state inmate still housed in a county or regional jail. Kentucky DOC records cover a different stage: a sentenced offender, a person under DOC supervision, or someone transferred from a county jail after the court process. Federal and immigration systems are separate again. Woodford's June 4, 2026 KDOC report showed federal inmates in Woodford custody, but BOP is still the proper public locator for sentenced federal inmates.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local jail custody | Boyle and Woodford rosters | Booking status, current charges, bond, and housing jail when published. |
| Sentenced Kentucky offender | Kentucky KOOL | DOC custody, supervision, aliases, photo filter, and offender status. |
| Federal sentenced custody | BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | A-Number or biographical search for immigration detainees. |
| Notification | VINELink | Custody and release alerts where the Kentucky data is available. |
Mercer County Jail Facilities
Mercer County's inmate records depend on the two regional detention centers named in the county research. Boyle is the primary facility for this build and publishes the strongest official statement about inmate information, including bond, current charges, and photographs. Woodford is also a Mercer-serving facility, with an official county roster link and a separate jail website. The same Mercer arrest can also create a court record in Harrodsburg, so custody and case status are not the same record.

Mercer County Booking Process
For a Mercer County arrest, the first agency may be the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Harrodsburg Police, Burgin Police, Kentucky State Police, or another law-enforcement body. The county jailer then has a local role in transport, booking and bond paperwork, court movement, and reports. Since Mercer does not house inmates in its own jail, the arrestee may be moved to Boyle or Woodford for intake. Intake can include identity checks, property inventory, fingerprints, a booking photograph, medical or mental-health screening, charge entry, classification, and temporary housing.
Jail booking is only the first public record point. The court side starts or updates when a complaint, citation, information, or indictment is filed in Mercer District or Circuit Court. The Mercer County court records after jail arrest page covers the filed charge record, while this roster page focuses on custody, bond, intake, and jail contact channels.
Mercer County Visitation Records
Visitation follows the housing jail, not the county where the arrest occurred. Boyle and Woodford publish different visit rules in official search text. Confirm the current visitor list, ID rule, dress code, child visitor rule, and remote-video process with the facility before traveling or scheduling. Attorney visits are normally handled apart from social visits and should be arranged directly with the jail.
| Facility | Schedule or Allowance | Source Note |
|---|---|---|
| Boyle County Detention Center | Two free 15-minute visits per 7 days; video visits can be scheduled from home or outside the jail. | Official Boyle visitation search text and Boyle County page link. |
| Woodford County Detention Center | Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.; inmate completes authorized visitor list before visits. | Official Woodford visitation search text. |
| Mercer County Jailer Office | No public jail visitation. | Mercer inmates are housed in Boyle and Woodford. |
Mercer County Records Requests
If a roster search fails, identify which office holds the record before sending a request. A jail booking record or booking photo may be held by Boyle or Woodford. A sheriff incident report may belong to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office. Harrodsburg Police records are routed through the police department's records phone line. A court case file starts with the Mercer Circuit Court Clerk. Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870-61.884, supplies the general public-records framework, but exemptions can apply for juvenile records, sealed cases, medical and mental-health data, active investigations, and jail security information.
Note: Verify custody with the housing jail before sending money, traveling for visits, or relying on an online roster entry.
